What I've Learned

I've been reflecting a lot on what I've learned and what I think about, so I thought I'd include the most important stuff here.. in a blog. Yay! These thoughts are numbered, but the order is completely random. Some of these are quotes, but I can't remember who said them..  Also, I wanted to note that I'm actively working on "mastering" a lot of these. (Sometimes it's hard!)

1. Be proactive, not reactive.

2. When you're really skinny, it hurts to sit down. I learned this one from a girl named Alyssa. A lot of people think it's a compliment to be skinny, but it can cause a lot of problems (and pain!) Therefore, in my opinion, it's nicer to be in discomfort from extra weight rather than far too little. At a certain point you literally start wasting away and it's terrifying.

3. When you stress out, your body stresses out. When you relax and try to feel better, your body feels better.

4. Pain is temporary, love is forever. I say this one to myself all the time, especially when there are needles involved. Also, avoid taking heavy duty pain killers, unless you absolutely need them.

5. Never say I love you if you don't mean it, but don't be afraid to say it when you do, because you might not always have the chance.

6. Be kind to everyone.. Especially doctors and nurses, because if you start dying rapidly, they're going to be the ones who take care of you, and if you treat them poorly, they're not going to want to help you as much. Seriously. And because it's the right thing to do.

7. "Whatever people consider to be normal, it never is." - South of Nowhere

8. Everybody needs a somebody.

9. Be that somebody.

10. If you appreciate a book, tv show, a kind gesture, or anything.. make it known. I love reading books or listening to music and complimenting the authors or artists on their work. They probably hear it all the time, but I pretend they don't and it feels good to be positive.

11. People often feel misunderstood and unappreciated.

12. Honesty is important.

13. Don't forget where you came from.

14. Spend time with your family.

15. Don't forget your friends.

16. Try to find a job that you'll enjoy, because happiness is worth more than any amount of money and time is something you won't get back.

17. Don't make excuses.

18. People like you more when you don't complain. (I really need to work on this one.)

19. Remember people for their strengths, not their faults.

20. Gay people are people.

21. Not all Muslims are terrorists. It makes me sad when people call Muslims terrorists, because I know some awesome people who happen to be Muslim and care more about other people than they care about themselves.

22. I don't care if you're a democrat, or a republican, or Barney the dinosaur.

23. A human is a human.

24. People have feelings.

25. Everyone has problems, and no, sometimes yours are not the worst in the world, but yes, you do matter.

26. Live while you have the chance.

27. You can't change the past, but you can make the future better.

28. Try to avoid ever having to say sorry (Hopefully this makes sense.. it's not the actual word, it's the actions and feelings involved.)

29. Don't hold onto hate.

30. Sometimes it's not about how good you are compared to everyone else, it's about how you can better yourself.

31. Life is too short to wait for things to happen. You have to do what you can to make things happen for yourself.

32. Hold onto love. Love is everything.

There are many more, I'm sure.. but these are the ones I'm posting for now. I hope you enjoyed them and they can help you in some way. I'd love to hear more too!
